New StudentsWelcome! We first set up a preliminary lesson, where we meet each other and I teach a mini lesson to my prospective student. They get an idea of what I’m about and I assess where we’d be starting should we continue our lessons. So feel free to schedule a preliminary appointment to get to know me, my studio and its policies, as well as what the travel situation for you will be like. Below are my policies which are also my studio contract. A signed contract by us both at any point after our initial meeting officially begins lessons.. PaymentPayment is due on the first lesson date of each month. No lessons will be taught after the 7th if payment has not been physically received. An invoice breaking down the month’s payment will be sent prior to the first lesson of each month. One hour lessons are $55 Attendance Requirements• The minimum number of required lessons for a 4 lesson day month is 3 lessons, for a 5 lesson day month the minimum is 4 lessons. This is for both those months with holidays falling on lesson days and for those months without holidays falling on lesson days.  • 9 months of study (Sept – May) is required from returning students. With advanced notice, a summer month can be substituted for one school year month if necessary. • For summer lessons, June – August, payment is taken at the beginning of the month but there is no minimum lesson requirement. Missed LessonsThere will be no credit given for lessons within the monthly lesson requirement not attended. Up to three of these lessons can be made up during the school year (Sept – May) as long as they are cancelled with a phone call prior to the start time of the lesson. Make-ups can be scheduled during any month but must be complete by the end of May. Forfeited lessons include lessons not attended with no phone call prior to lesson start time, and required lessons not attended beyond the three make-ups. Credit for lessons will be given: 1) For lessons missed due to poor visability/icy road conditions, and 2) For lessons paid above the monthly minimum (for example 3 required, 4 paid for) cancelled by 9:00 the evening before. Scheduling• Your lesson time is an appointed time, so please choose one that has the best chance of working for the entire school year. • Permanent time slot changes are possible but not guaranteed, as they are subject to availability. • If a student takes a break from lessons during September through May, their lesson time will not be held, unless the break is due to physical injury or prolonged illness. • Creating individualized schedules that change weekly/monthly is not coherent with my other duties as a musician and is therefore not an available option.
